Regulations

Purpose: to develop regulatory framework(s) for RoRo Cargo and RoRo Passenger ships under the auspices of the International Maritime Organization.

Method: provide a platform for individual proposals on how to device energy efficiency index for RoRo/RoPAX, without prejudice to other ship types.

Timeline: Collect and disseminate proposals prior to MEPC63. Agree, if possible, on proposal(s) to bring forward by means of submission to MEPC64/65.

Next meeting: Sunday 26 Feb 2012 at 1.30 p.m. at the IMO, London.

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) is a specialised agency of the United Nations which is responsible for measures to improve the safety and security of international shipping and to prevent marine pollution.  The IMO is also involved in legal matters, including liability and compensation issues, the facilitation of international maritime traffic and technical assistance.
