IMO Grants Consultative Status to Interferry
At the June meeting of the International Maritime Organization in London the IMO Council granted Consultative Status to Interferry. This status allows non-governmental organizations to participate in the discussions at committee level. Interferry will participate in the meetings of the Maritime Safety Committee and the Marine Environment Protection Committee alongside other shipping associations such as BIMCO, Intercargo, Intertanko, International Chamber of Shipping, International Council of Cruise Lines, etc.
Len Roueche, Interferry CEO, will attend the Marine Environment Protection Committee meetings from 14-18 July in London. A number of topics on the agenda will be of interest to the ferry industry including: recycling of ships, prevention of air pollution from ships and harmful anti-fouling systems for ships. It is expected that Interferry will act as a liaison between IMO and the ferry industry.
