SeaFrance places order with Alstom Marine

French ferry operator SeaFrance has placed an order for a cross-channel ferry with domestic shipbuilding group Alstom Marine/Chantiers de l«Atlantique.
Due to be completed by February 2005, the ship will be specially adapted to the route between Calais and Dover. The vessel will boast a capacity of 1,900 passengers, 800 cars or 120 lorries, which will make it quite similar in capacity to the 2001-built SEAFRANCE RODIN.
The new ship will have an overall length of 186 metres, and will «ensure a strong French presence on the cross-Channel market,« said SeaFrance in a comment.
The company presently operates five ships between Calais and Dover: the SEAFRANCE CEZANNE, SEAFRANCE MANET, SEAFRANCE RENOIR, SEAFRANCE NORD-PAS-DE-CALAIS and the latest addition, the SEAFRANCE RODIN.
