Why You Should Join!

Interferry is the only international shipping association representing the worldwide ferry industry. With 215 corporate and individual members from 25 countries, it acts as a voice for all aspects of the ferry sector including owners, operators, ship designers, shipbuilders, equipment suppliers and manufacturers, government agencies, classification societies and maritime professionals.

Established in 1976 as the International Marine Transit Association, the association took a major step forward in 2001-2002 by adopting a new name and hiring its first full-time Chief Executive Officer. Since then Interferry has developed rapidly in size and influence – doubling its membership and achieving consultative status at the International Maritime Organization.

The IMO milestone came in 2004 and gave the ferry industry direct input to the international regulatory process for the first time. Members are invited to participate as part of Interferry's delegation at the regular meetings of the Maritime Safety Committee and the Marine Environement Protection Committee. They have already helped us make key interventions on updates to the High Speed Craft Code and air emissions regulations.

Interferry's annual conference has been a highlight of activities every year since 1976. The venue rotates between Europe, the Americas and the Asia-Pacific region. It's a special event that combines outstanding professional presentations with unrivaled networking opportunities and a host of social activities. Many participants bring a spouse or a partner – and members qualify for discounts on delegate fees.

Further membership benefits include a subscription to Interferry News, an email newsletter specifically designed for the busy executive who does not have time to read all the trade media. Membership also offers doscounts on certain shipping publications, access to the membership list and access to the members-only area of the Interferry website.

In addition, Interferry has useful affiliations with other shipping associations including the US Passenger Vessel Association, the Canadian Ferry Operation Association, the UK Passenger Shipping Association, the Danish Car Ferry Association, BIMCO and the European Community Shipowners Association.

Membership in Interferry is available at very reasonable rates from US$150 to $850 per year with discounts for three-year memberships.
