Under the presidential leadership of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Roads &Transport Authority (RTA) came into development in November 2005. It is responsible for planning and executing transport and traffic projects in Dubai, preparing legislation and strategic plans, constructing major projects, and developing integrated solutions of road systems and marine networks that are in line with the city's rapid economic growth. It has six core service agencies; Traffic and Roads Agency, Public Transport Agency, Rail Agency, Marine Agency, Dubai Taxi and newly launched Licensing in addition to three supporting corporate organisational sectors: Strategy & Corporate Governance, Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector and Corporate Technical Support Services Sector.
