October 8 – 11 • Victoria, British Columbia
On Wednesday afternoon, October 8, after the Technical Tour, the group will take a 45 minute drive to the ferry port at Tsawwassen. You will take a 90 minute cruise through the Gulf Islands to Victoria aboard one of BC Ferries S-Class twin ferries, either the Spirit of British Columbia or the Spirit of Vancouver Island.
Victoria, the capital of British Columbia, is known as the Garden City. This city has something for everyone: world renowned Butchart Gardens, hiking, diving, museums, art galleries, afternoon tea, shopping and outdoor eco-adventures such as whale watching, kayaking and salmon fishing. Golf with Interferry's President Mike Corrigan can be arranged.
You will stay 3 nights at a Victoria landmark, the Fairmont Empress. Regarded on the Condé Nast Gold List and Travel + Leisure 500 Best Hotels of the World, The Fairmont Empress hotel sits majestically at the cornerstone of Victoria's sparkling Inner Harbour and vibrant city centre. This elegant chateau-type resort captures the grandeur and elegance of a bygone era and Interferry guests will experience Fairmont's Gold rooms and suites. A boutique hotel experience within a hotel, these luxury accommodations offer added features including private check-in, complimentary internet, Concierge lounge access with lavish continental breakfast, honour bar, and evening hors d'oeuvres and an attentive Concierge team. The hotel also features the highly acclaimed Willow Stream Spa regarded as one of the best spas in Canada.
The Fairmont Empress is ideally located close to many local attractions right in Victoria's Inner Harbour. Therefore, we will leave it up to you to plan your days. For ideas on what to do, see Victoria Tourism's Visitors Guide and download the Victoria Official 2014 Vacation Guide app or just wait until you arrive and the hotel Concierge team will be happy to assist you with your activities.
Each evening, the Interferry group will get back together for dinner. This is a great time to network, get to know your fellow Interferry members and share the stories from your day's adventures.
Wednesday night's dinner will be at the Empress's, Bengal Lounge. Drawing inspiration from Queen Victoria's role as the Empress of India, this colonial style lounge is known throughout Victoria for its authentic curry buffet and signature cocktail menu.
Thursday night's dinner will be at The Steamship Grill & Taphouse located in Victoria's Inner Harbour.
Friday night's dinner will be held in the Fairmont Empress's "Library". The Library overlooks the picturesque Inner Harbour and Legislative Buildings. Originally called the Rose Room or ladies lounge when the hotel opened in 1908, it now offers an intimate setting for private events. The Chefs at the Fairmont Empress will not disappoint.
Saturday is check-out day. Transportation from Victoria is not included in the package but there are many options available depending on where you are headed to next. See bottom of page for details.
